Since its debut at Stanford University in May 2024, the Manga Truck has traveled to a variety of locations, including manga- and anime–related events, cultural institutions, and commercial spaces. As part of its collaboration with the de Young Museum, Orange sought to give visitors to “Art of Manga” the opportunity to experience manga beyond the exhibition galleries—by picking up a book and reading it for themselves. For this showcase, the Manga Truck was set up along the street in front of the museum and stocked with a carefully curated collection of more than 300 manga volumes.Throughout the day, many museum visitors stopped by the Manga Truck, browsing its collection and spending time reading on the spot. With their interest in manga already sparked by the exhibition, visitors seemed to enjoy discovering both familiar favorites and new works they had never encountered before.By combining a museum exhibition with an outdoor, hands-on reading experience, the showcase offered an approachable way to engage with manga—highlighting not only its artistic depth, but also how easily it can be enjoyed by readers of all backgrounds.Orange will continue to leverage the Manga Truck to create new opportunities for people to discover and engage with manga in diverse settings, further expanding the reach of manga culture around the world.Learn more about “Art of Manga” at the links below:de Young Museum — “Art of Manga” Official Exhibition Pagehttps://www.famsf.org/exhibitions/art-of-mangade Young Museum Press Releasehttps://www.famsf.org/press-room/art-of-manga-brings-manga-fever-to-sf-through-landmark-exhibition-with-rare-presentation-of-original-drawings
